The Shirley M. Wright Memorial Public Library, located in the village of Trempealeau WI, seeks a dynamic, creative, and motivated individual to fill an open position to assist in fulfilling our mission of “providing quality materials and services which fulfill the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of our community”. This person will play a role in many areas of library service and will help sustain our history of progressive programming and excellent materials that are open to all.

The successful candidate will:

  • Set a positive tone within the library and with other staff members
  • Assist in maintaining a welcoming environment
  • Imagine and execute passive programming for adults, teens, and children
  • Maintain confidentiality of records
  • Check in, check out, reshelf books, and maintain stacks
  • Facilitate patron access to materials and services
  • Perform reader’s advisory
  • Continuously develop personal skills and talents to improve the library experience for all

  • Understanding and dedication to customer service
  • Works well with a team and independently
  • Energy and enthusiasm with a commitment to the needs of our community
  • Strong interest in working with children and young adults
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Qualifications:

High school diploma with post secondary education preferred, excellent communication skills and experience working in a community oriented environment, knowledge of the library system, and an avid library user. Scheduling is flexible during our open hours of 1pm-8pm Monday through Wednesday, 9am-6pm Thursday and Friday, and 9am-12pm on Saturday. Candidate will work approximately 20 hours/week at a rate of $10.75-$12.50/hour based on experience.
